A Weekend to Remember
My sister finished high school two weeks ago. As
a special gift, our parents took us to India.
Last weekend was interesting but scary.
We went camping in a small village in India.
F i r s t , w e t o o k a l o n g b u s r i d e t o a l a k e i n t h e
countryside. There we put up our tents and made
a fire to keep us warm and cook food on. On the
f i r s t n i g h t , w e j u s t s a t u n d e r t h e m o o n a n d t o l d
each other stories. But I was so tired that I went
to sleep early.

surprise. When we looked out of our tent, we saw a
b i g s n a k e s l e e p i n g n e a r t h e f i r e . I w a s s o s c a r e d
that I couldn't move. We shouted to our parents to
let them know about the danger. My dad started to
j u m p u p a n d d o w n i n t h e i r t e n t . T h i s w o k e t h e
snake up and it moved into the forest near the lake.
M y d a d t o l d m e l a t e r t h a t s n a k e s d o n ' t h a v e e a r s
but can feel things moving. He also told me it was
important not to go near a snake. T hi s w a s a v e r y
useful lesson for me.
