本课是一篇介绍文学家马克吐温的阅读文章。第八单元课文是改编自马克吐温小
说“王子与贫儿”的一段节选，因此可以把这篇 additional reading 看作是课文阅
读的延伸。文章内容包括了对于他在美国文学史上地位、人生经历、部分作品和
写作风格的简要介绍，文章长度，语言难度适中。
学情分析：
学生有一定的阅读能力，听说技能相对滞后，同学之间的英语语言能力参差不齐。
大部分学生态度认真，但是缺乏自主学习的能力和积极性。较低的学习动机表现
在英语课堂上学生不愿意主动回答问题，尤其是用英语回答问题，由于能力差异，
学生更适应以学习小组方式进行课堂活动。学生知道作家马克吐温和他的部分作
品，但是了解并不具体全面。
