Teaching objectives:
Knowledge and skills
1) With the teacher’s instructions, students will be able to extract the key information and
acquire the gist for each paragraph in the body of the reading passage
2) Students will be able to describe the plants mentioned in the passage with the focused
vocabulary.
3) With the help of the Chinese clues given by the teacher and the focused vocabulary, students
will be able to apply what they have learned to describing the plants on the campus.

plants in the passage.

1. Read the passage once, and match
the plants with their features.
2. Read the passage again, and fill in
the missing information on the fact
cards.
3. Share the fact cards answers and
list the key vocabulary.(words and
patterns)
4. Introduce the three plants with a
beginning like “I am a jasmine
bush/Yulan magnolia/golden ball
cactus”.
1. Get a general idea of the passage,
making clear the author’s writing
purpose and major features of each plant.
2. Rearrange the details of each plant,
and get a clearer picture of the three
plants
