1. before的用法
(1)主句用将来时, 从句总是用现在时。例如:
I will finish my homework before my teacher comes
here.
老师来这儿之前我会完成我的作业。
(2)从句谓语用的是过去时, 则主句动词多用过去完成时。
例如: I had been here before you called me.
你打电话之前我就已经在这儿了。
2. after的用法
(1)主句用将来时, 从句总是用现在时。例如:
I’ll leave after he comes back.
他回来后我就走。
(2)从句用过去完成时, 主句用一般过去时。例如:
I found his pen after he had left.
在他走后, 我找到了他的钢笔。
3. as的用法
(1)表示一个主语同时进行两个动作。例如:
He jumps as he goes along.
他边走边跳。
(2)表示一种动作随着另一种动作的变化而变化。例如:
I saw him as he was getting off the bus.
正当他下公共汽车时, 我看见了他。

【知识详解·记】
1. that引导的定语从句
(1)作主语。例如: The bag that lies on the ground is
hers. 地上的那个包是她的。
(2)作宾语。例如: The man that I visited yesterday is
my teacher. 我昨天拜访的那个人是我的老师。
(3)作表语。例如: That’s all that I know.
我知道的就那些。
2. who引导的定语从句
(1)作主语。例如:
The person who was here yesterday is a musician.
昨天在这儿的那个人是位音乐家。
(2)作宾语。例如: The man (who/whom) I saw just now
is Mr Li. 我刚才见到的那个人是李先生。
【警示】
①若先行词中既有人又有物, 关系代词用that而不用
who。例如:
The scientist and his achievements that you told me
about are admired by us all.
我们所有人都钦佩你告诉我的那位科学家和他所取得
的成就。
②若先行词前面有形容词最高级、序数词修饰, 关系代
词用that而不用who。例如:
Yao Ming is the best basketball player that I know.

Huang Xuhua—the Father of China’s Nukes
Huang Xuhua is the Father of China’s Nukes. He
was born in a rich family. He is one of the greatest
scientists who make our country stronger. He gave up the
chance to be a doctor, and tried to learn how to make/
build the nukes. In the hard condition, he went on studying
the knowledge of making/building the nukes at that time.
To protect the national security, he used to conceal/
