Unit4 An English friend Aims and demands. The main function items in the Unit are “talking about an English friend.’’ The focal points are the sentence patterns “Does he/she…? Yes, he does. No, he doesn’t.” .Through guestures and facial expressions ,require the students to learn several kinds of active phrases .Through situational teaching ,ask the students to talk something about their friends , require the Ss to use v. and adv. properly in a certain situation. Time arrangement This Unit can be divided into four to five periods. The First Period I.The Contents of the teaching OxfordPrimary SchoolEnglish 5B  Unit 4 II. Aims and demands 1. Four skills: fast high ,Does he/she…? Yes, he does. No, he doesn’t. 2. Three skills: speak loudly, run fast, jump high, dance beautifully, walk carefully, sit quietly 3. Require the Ss to use v. and adv. properly in a certain situation III. The focal and difficult pints 1.Four skilled words : fast high, Does he/she…? Yes, he does. No, he doesn’t. 2.Correctly listen and say the three skills phrases . IV .Preparation before class 1.Teaching materials . a. Picture cards with action expressing on them . b.Wall picture about Part B. c.A tape recorder and some tapes. 2.Writing on the Bb: Write the title of the Unit before class .  Unit 4 An English friend V. Steps and methods A. Warming up 1. Sing a song “Come on and join into the games” 2. Free talk a.Good morning . b.What day is it today ? c.What lessons do you have in the morning ? d.What subject do you like ? 3.Students act out the dialogues they prepared . B. Presentation and practice 1. jump high a. Now, let’s do some exercise. Sun rise. Wave your arms. Shake your body. Stand up. Jump high etc. Run fast. b. Ask a student to jump high. (put “jump high” on the Bb) c. Read in pairs. 2. run fast a. Let’s act! Run fast! (Put “run fast” on the Bb.) b. Read in pairs! 3. speak loudly a. I say you do. fast→ run  loudly→ speak b. Put “speak loudly” on the Bb. and read loudly. c. You say s. do. cry loudly sing loudly 4. Teach dance beautifully, walk carefully, sit quietly in the same way 5. Listen to the tape and read after the tape 6. Hand out the cards to some students, ask the others to guess. 7. Show Ss some photos and talk about them. Does he run fast? Yes, he does. No, he doesn’t .Ask Ss try to say “Does he …?” 8. Talk about the picture in pair. 9. Make a dialogue and act it. D. What do you usually do? I usually play football. What does he usually do? He usually… b.Readingand practice. 2. Look at the picture and talk about it. c. E-mail, surf the Internet, busy What’s Wang Bing doing? Is he surfing the Internet? He’s busy. d. town, age Do you live in the city? No, I’m in a small town. Are you twelve? Yes, I am. And you? I’m twelve, too. You’re in the same age. 3. Listen to the tape, answer the question. d. Does Wang Bing’s friend live inLondon? e. How old is his friend? f. Does he usually play football? g. Does he play well? 4. Imitate! 5. Practice in groups. C. Consolidation 1. Act the dialogue. 2、Do exercise in the WB 3. Talk about your own friends. The Third Period I.The contents of the teaching OxfordPrimary SchoolEnglish 5B Unit 4 II. Aims and demands 1.      Students can enable phases in Unit 4 2.      Students can use sentences “What does…usually do…?” “He/She usually…”in their daily life . 3.      Require the students to master the differences of sentences pattern “ Do…? Yes,…do./No,…don’t.” 4.      Enable the students to use the phrases fluently. III. The focal and difficult points 1.      Use the sentence patterns learnt in the unit fluently. 2.      Enable the students to make dialogues, using the correct words and expressions. IV. Preparation before class 1.      A tape recorder, tapes, picture cards 2.      Write the title of the unit on the blackboard before class. Unit 4 An English friend V.Steps and methods A. Say a rhyme 1. Try to read. 2. Listen to the tape. 3. Let’s say together. B. Revision 1.Show picture cards quickly ,let students speak out the phrases. 2. Introduction T: I usually read English books and watch TV on Sundays. My brother usually does his homework… My parents usually… 3. Do a survey in group S1: What do you usually…? S2: I usually… S1: What do… S3: I… 4. Have a try e.g. SA: Excuse me ,B What does C usually do… SB: She usually… SA: Does D…? SB: Yes,…/No,… 5. Play a game a. Review “What does…? Does…?” b. Preparations:some picture cards c. Look ,ask and gu  C. Ask and answer 1.T or one student give an example 2.Try to say by themselves D. Look and read 1. Look at the pictures 2. Listen to the tape, then repeat 3. Try to say (If you are the boy) 4. Describe Use: He goes to school… He has… He likes… 5. Act the dialogue by themselves E. Assign homework 1. Review words .phrases and sentences pattern 2. Try to describe your friend’s daily life and hobbies Notes:go to school at seven have six lessons everyday have lunch at 11:10 like singing … The Fourth Period I. Fluently say the three skilled everyday English and sentence patterns. III. The focal and difficult points 1.Correctly master the four skilled words and sentence patterns 2.To know the pronunciation of the  letter “u” in the in words. IV. Preparation before class A tape recorder, tapes, wall pictures. Write the title of the unit on the blackboard before class. Unit 4   An English friend V. Steps and methods                                    i.            Free talk and revision                                  ii.            T: I usually go shopping on Saturdays and Sundays. Do you usually…? S1: Yes, I do. / No, I don’t. I usually play chess on Saturdays. T: Does your mother work on Saturdays and Sundays? S1: Yes, she does. T: What does your father usually do in the evening? S1: He usually watches TV and reads newspapers. B. Say the rhymes C. Play a game(Listen and act) e.g. cry /laugh/sing You’re right. /great! You’re wrong. I’m sorry. D. Read and act. 1. Look at the pictures, read after the tape in roles. 2. Change. 3. Try to ask and answer (Don’t look at your books.) E. Listen and repeat 1. T writes some words on the blackboard or use some cards with the words. 2. Read together or ask someone to read. 3. Classify [ju:] [u] [A] 4. Look at the picture, describe it then say “The puppet jumps and runs in the bus” e.g. T: What’s this? Ss: It’s a puppet. T: Where is it? Is it in the box? Is it in the box? Ss:… F. Assign homework 1.
