本句是when 引导的时间状语从句,若主句、从句的动作均未发生,则主句用
一般将来时、祈使句或含有情态动词的句子,从句用一般现在时代替一般将
来时。类似用法的还有: before,
after,as soon as引导的时间状语从句和if/unless引导的条件状语从句。这些从
句都是
(1)当主句中有will,shall,won’t,be going to表示将来的谓语时,从句用一般现在
时。
If you ask him,he will help you.如果你向他请求,他会帮助你。
(2)主句中含有can,may,must等情态动词时,从句用一般现在时。
If you want to be a scientist,you must study hard.如果你想成为科学家,就必须努
力学习。
(3)主句是祈使句时,从句用一般现在时。

(1) can“能”,表示过去或现在“能力所及”时,与be able
to 通用。
He can / is able to speak German.他会说德语。
I could / was able to run very fast when I was a boy.我小时候

(2) be able to的过去式还可表示一种“经过努力做到了”的意思。而can的
过去式则没有这种意义。

too…to…是“太……以致不能……”,to是不定式符号,后接动词原形,该句式
虽没有否定词not/no,但表达否定意义,若逻辑主语是动作的执行者,则需用
for 引出。

【拓展】 (1) too…to…可转化为复合句 so…that…句型,此时that从句的
谓语动词要用否定形式。
The problem is too difficult for me to work out.
=The problem is so difficult that I can’t work it out.
(2) too…to…还可转化为“not+形容词/副词+enough to do”,其中形容词/
副词是句型too…to…中形容词/副词的反义词。
