英语作文读后续写写作指导
一、续写原题
It was a rainy November morning. Overcome with anger, I knew if I didn't leave
the house soon I would lose my temper with my husband, Joe. As rain came down in sheets,
Joe offered to take me to work. I struggled into my jacket, seized my bag and teaching
plans and ignored him.
He insisted and reached for his boots. I looked at the piles of newspapers and
the dirty dishes still on the table. "Don't you have enough to do? I can take care
of myself." I stormed out, not even kissing him good-bye. Joeshouted after me not
to take the shortcut(捷径).
Joe and I had been eagerly looking forward to our retirement when a heart attack
that past spring forced him to leave his job earlier than we had planned. As the medical
bills mounted we realized I would have to continue working full-time while Joe
stayed home and took over the housework.
The new arrangement was a disaster. Exhausted after a day of full work, all I wanted
was a hot homecooked meal and a good night's sleep. However, what greeted me at the
table was a microwave package. Sometimes he would serve oatmeal(燕麦) for several
nights in a row. One night when I dragged myself to bed, I was terrified to discover
Joe had turned our white sheets blue. He told me he had found out how to save on water,
soap and electricity. He patted his blue trousers and announced proudly washing
everything together was just the secret.
Ten minutes later, ignoring Joe's warning I turned off the main route(道路). I
thought it hadn't rained enough to flood the road, but as I rounded the corner,
water rushed across my path. After a few feet, the car got stuck. I opened the door
and water poured in. I hurriedly closed the door. I couldn't risk walking in this.
Almost 20 minutes passed. The car began to shake. I gotfrightened to death when I
heard three long honks(喇叭声).

二、下水思路
1. 确定主题：大主题是老夫老妻的爱情故事。以第一人称的视角进行叙述。故事讲的是
我对丈夫的一些生活琐事的误解，通过上班遇险，丈夫奋力抢救，误解得以消除，爱意涌上心
头。
2. 时空变化： 地点是在转弯处的一条被水淹没的小路上(...rounded the corner,
water rushed across my path)。丈夫的卡车在车子的后面(Looking over my shoulder, I stared into the flashing lights of a truck. )。时间是上午上班路上。(It was a rainy
November morning....Joe offered to take me to work. )
3. 续写难点：情节安排相对较复杂，尤其是对丈夫如何营救我的描写，涉及较多的动作
描写。(问题解决类续写，要注意细节须紧扣主题，情节须合情合理，须反映解决问题的能力。)
此外，通过对险境的描写，突出丈夫的形象，为消除误解，体会真爱作铺垫。
三、下水续写
“7+7”模式
Paragraph 1: Looking over my shoulder, I stared into the flashing lights of a truck.
↓
1. A familiar figure leaped out, rushed towards me and waded into the water.
↓
2. Thank goodness, it was Joe who came to my rescue.
↓
3. However, the water was running so rapidly that he had to go back.
↓
4. Frightened and a little angry, I could hardly help shedding tears.
↓
5. How I wished that my husband were like a superman who could save me from disaster.
↓
6. But, after a while, it turned out that Joe returned with one end of a rope in
his hand and the other end tied to the truck.
↓
7. He struggled to throw the rope to me and shouted, “Catch! Open the door!”

Paragraph 2: I screamed that I couldn't make it.

1. At that moment, the sound of the raging water outside grew louder, and the car
rocked more violently.
↓
2. Worse still, the water came up to Joe’s waist and he almost lost his footing
in the water.
↓
3. After several vain attempts, Joe realized that there was no chance to make
it.
↓
4. He put every ounce of strength into getting close to me and said soothingly,
"Don't panic, honey! I'm here."
↓
5. With Joe's help, I burst the door open, and Joe immediately tied the rope around
my waist.
↓
6. The moment we pulled ourselves out of the water, the car was washed away.
↓7. What a narrow escape! I hugged Joe tightly, happiness and love welling up inside
me.

The moment we pulled ourselves out of the water, the car was washed away. What a narrow
escape! I hugged Joe tightly, happiness and love welling up inside me.
