The blooming of social media and interactive smartphone-based apps has proved that e-marketing is an unchangeable trend. In the case of China, the latest battlefield is beauty camera apps, which have become an overnight hit in the West.
1. MeituPic
Developed by the Xiamen-based Meitu Inc, MeituPic is the company’s flagship beauty camera app and was the first to become a big hit among Western users. The app has drawn some 456 million users, who use it to post more than 6 billion photos every month.
In addition to MeituPic, Meitu Inc has developed a series of beauty camera apps such as Beauty Plus, Poster Labs and Meipai, each specializing in facial feature improvement, video editing and many other features.

Launched in 2014, Pitu has accumulated 106 million monthly active users (MAUs). While the number is not as impressive as that of Meitu’ s apps, some argue that the user base of Tencent’ s gaming products and chat applications, such as QQ and WeChat, gives Pitu great potential for further growth. According to Chinese app watchers, Pitu’ s target audience is younger and more individualized than that of MeituPic. 80 percent of Pitu’ s users are younger than 25, giving the app more room to try out more new features.
3. FaceU
In contrast with most other beauty apps, FaceU, focuses more on the social feature, encouraging users to video chat with friends and even strangers while playing with its fun stickers (贴纸) — and the strategy is undoubtedly working. Launched in 2016, the app, which mainly targets female users between 15 and 35, has twice made it onto the Apple store’ s Chart for top apps.

Almost everybody once felt loneliness. Loneliness doesn’t depend on how many people you are surrounded, but actually is decided by how much socially connected you are. Social media such as WeChat, QQ and Microblog is growing rapidly, which seems to have expanded our network, but actually has thrown ourselves into the hole of loneliness. Now loneliness is poisoning our mental health. To jump out of the “net”, recently the concept of “cohousing” is introduced by some western architects(建筑师)and the new living style is well-received in the US among seniors. So what’s cohousing?
Most cohousing communities are 15 to 35 private and individual houses built around a public area where social interaction takes place. Those individual houses are actually the same with common houses with living rooms, bathrooms, kitchens and bedrooms. In the public area, there are a variety of public facilities like big kitchens. Residents can regularly plan activities and meals together. Some neighborhoods have dinner every day with work clearly given to each person. The closer ties in the cohousing communities tend to increase people’s sense of security. In addition, cohousing units prove to be economical. Although the house itself might be a little higher, the total costs can be lower after considering energy savings through shared meals, transportation and others.
The attitude towards “cohousing” is mixed. Intentional people-to-people interaction is greatly valued the accepted by supporters. They treat the lifestyle as the lifeline out of the hole of loneliness. However, opponents hold that privacy outweighs intentional social interaction. They find no need to change their current living style and want to stay unchanged as long as possible. Such opinion is challenged by some people. They argue when those people get older with sudden death of their income or even mate, they will realize the value of cohousing communities. They are suggested to plan ahead. What’s your idea? Will you choose to live in cohousing communities?
24.The author uses “social media” in the first paragraph to _________.
A. show the problem of using them B. persuade readers to value communication
C. remind readers of their ways of communication D. prove the importance of them
25. What can we learn from the cohousing communities?
A. The communities are built in an area which contains 15-35 public houses.
B. Residents plan activities and meals together in their individual houses.
C. The houses in the communities are similar to common houses with necessary facilities.
D. The communities will cost people more money because the price of the house is higher.
26. What’s the author’s attitude towards “cohousing”?
A. Uninterested. B. Doubtful. C. Worried. D. Objective.
27. What would be the best title for the text?
A. What is a “cohousing community”? B. Would you choose “cohousing”?
C. How do you purchase “cohousing”? D. Why does “cohousing” appear?
C
Despite the countless differences between people's characters and careers, or their likes and their dislikes, it seems that we are all connected in this wonderful life by one thing — the pursuit (追求) of happiness.
For me, happiness is horse riding, Cadbury's Creme Eggs and spending time with my friends. Some people are at their happiest at home, while others find their paradise (乐园) through traveling in faroff foreign lands. Happiness can be as simple as a surprise bunch of fresh flowers or a really strong coffee, just when you need it most. Sometimes, happiness comes from spending time with loved ones; at other times, it's having a quiet night at home, with nothing but a movie and a comfortable bed for company.
Since it comes in so many shapes and sizes, it's sometimes easy to take happiness for granted. Maybe you overslept, missed the bus and had to walk to school in the rain, only to be told off for being late. Or perhaps, because of work, you had to cancel plans with friends, despite looking forward to seeing them for ages. Forgotten keys, delayed flights, an argument with your parents, untimely illness or injury ... all very frustrating and understandably guaranteed to make you feel unhappy.
Luckily, there are a few simple ways to make_the_glass_seem_halffull_again. To start with, things like trying out cycling or walking instead of driving to work and listening to music are great moodboosters. Volunteering and getting involved with a charity are two ways in which you can become happier through helping others. Last but certainly not least, trying hugging your way to happiness; it's been suggested that we humans need at least five hugs a day. If you've been having a bad day, there's nothing better than a good old bear hug.
28.What is the main idea of Paragraph 2?
A.Happiness is getting what you need.
B.Flowers can easily surprise someone.
C.One man's meat is another man's poison.
D.Happiness means different things to different people.
29.To tell us that people are easy to take happiness for granted, the author ________.
A.performs an experiment B.provides some examples
C.tells an interesting story D.presents some difficulties
30.By “make the glass seem halffull again”, the author means “________”.
A.make up for your loss B.refill the glass half full
C.make you feel happy again D.help you seem like a positive man
31.What is the best title for the text?
A.Wealth and happiness B.The pursuit of happiness
C.How to find pure happiness D.Don't ignore simple happiness
D
I left home to support my sister in her efforts to present a music festival. She lives on the other side of the world, and I went to visit her, not wanting to leave and feeling like I was leaving home against my will. However, I wanted to show her my support because she is my only sister.
So I boarded the plane in mid-August, and hated the long flight. I arrived, tired and hungry. I had left my husband of 2 years, alone, in our old New Orleans house.
I was all set and ready to perform for my sister for the music festival on Sunday morning when I received a call from Chicago. The hurricane was predicted to hit our city, and many people had already evacuated, but my husband chose to stay behind. He could not get a call to me on the other side of the world, but he could call his cousin in Chicago. He gave his cousin a message for me, that he would be just fine, and not to worry.
As the day wore on, I finally took the stage in front of hundreds of Europeans, and I realized, thanks to CNN, that New Orleans was under water.
I performed, hoping that my husband would survive. And I performed perfectly. The audience
stood and applauded. I left the stage and went straight to the TV. I saw the street sign near my home, of Humanity Street, but nothing below it, except water.
In the days that followed, I found out that my house, my car, my clothes, my furniture, everything that I’d left behind was gone…but not my husband. He survived by riding on the rear bumper(后保险杠)of a VW bus, holding on to the overhead luggage rack, in the pouring rain, down the highway from New Orleans, half-way to Baton Rouge. The rest of the journey was a long walk, but he survived.
By the first week of September, I flew back to the Baton Rouge airport, and hugged my husband. Since then, our relationship has grown deeper; we have completely rebuilt our house, bought a new car, bought new furniture and new clothes and joined an inspirational, spirit-filled community.
32. Why did the author leave home?
A. To look after her sister. B. To attend a music festival.
C. To watch a performance. D. To visit her husband’s cousin.
33. How did the author feel when she left home?
A. Disappointed. B. Worried. C. Tired. D. Unwilling.
34. What does the underlined word “evacuated” mean?
A. Gathered. B. Struggled. C. Escaped. D. Hid.
35. What might be the title for the passage?
A. Lost it All, Gained Even More. B. Once Gone, Never Returned.
C. Caught in the Hurricane. D. Trapped in a Dilemma.

书面表达
Dear Sarah,
I’m very glad to receive your last e-mail. At your request, I’d like to tell you something about my school life.
This year I am Senior 3, and I have six subjects to learn every day. School hours usually begin at 7 am and end at 8:30 pm. We are making the most of every minute, preparing for the coming college entrance examination. Though time is precious, I try to do some sports or do some reading after class. Sometimes, too, I surf the Internet to update and amuse myself.
It’s been my dream to go to Peking University ever since I went to senior high school because of its strong cultural atmosphere as well as its high academic status.
I’d appreciate it if you can tell me something about your school life as well. I’m looking forward to it.
